Man Accused Of Starting Fire On Boat In Bridgeport Harbor Because Of Trump Banner

A man has been accused of starting a fire on a boat that displayed a Trump flag in Fairfield County.

A 911 caller reported the man carrying a gas can on a boat flying the flag at the East End Yacht Club at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 31, telling Bridgeport dispatchers that he smelled smoke and could see a cooler on the craft catch fire, according to Bridgeport Police.

The caller told dispatchers that he had quickly extinguished the fire, and relayed a description of the alleged arsonist. 

Based on this description, police retained Olajuwon Johnson of Bridgeport, who the caller later identified as the perpetrator for police. 

Johnson was charged with the felony of third-degree arson, and his bail bond was set at $10,000.
